The Shedd aquarium in Chicago, Illinois is offering a Beluga Encounter that allows you to be in the water, face to face with these amazing creatures.

The Beluga Encounter costs $250 for non-members and $200 for members.Before you meet the Beluga you learn all about their care and fun facts about them in a seminar. Once you get your wetsuit on you get in the water with a trainer. During this time you will get to touch the Belugas skin, do tricks, and take a picture. Talk about first hand learning.

The Shedd also offers Beluga proposals. It is something different and exciting marking the start of the road to your new life together. If there is one way to do it, it´s with a splash.

Senior Tianna Orr had the opportunity to experience the Beluga Encounter. “When I first got into the water it was super cold and I was super nervous. The [whales] were huge and there were multiple of them,l even though I only interacted with one at a time. After meeting the whale I got to feed them fish, I literally had to pick them out of the bucket and put them in her mouth. I learned different tricks with her, we high-fived, I was able to pet her tongue and touch her teeth, I gave her signals to do noises out of her blow hole, we learned to place our heads together, and my absolute favorite trick was to splash the whale with a little water and then she’ll take water in her mouth and spit it at you. I would most definitely do it again.”

Belugas aren’t your thing? The Shedd also offers shark feeding and penguin encounters. As well as an overnight stay at the shedd, that allows you to experience the animals at night. It’s fun for the whole family
