With Jak’s Warehouse opening this past October, it soon became considered as the replacement for the Schererville Fun Center, which closed down in 2008. Housing a laser maze, bumper cars, urban mini-golf, go-karts, laser tag and arcade games, Jak’s Warehouse has 60,000 square feet of leased space in the Omni Health and Center.
But after visiting Jak’s Warehouse, all I can say is, bring back the Fun Center–at least as far as prices go. I wouldn’t recommend bringing a date here, unless you’re willing to dish out some cash and you don’t mind dealing with 7 and 8-year olds.
“The best attraction is probably the go-karts and laser tag, and everything else is for kids in middle school,” said senior Nick Cerda.
However, despite the price, the facility is extremely large and spacious. If you want to spend the money, you will be able to get your money’s worth just by walking around and spending an afternoon or evening here.
You can purchase an unlimited play wristband at Jak’s for $22.19 on the weekends, which guarantees you 4 hours of unlimited play. But you can also purchase points for individual attractions. Jak’s charges $10 for 20 points plus 2 point bonus, $25 for 50 points plus a 10 point bonus, $50 for 100 points plus a 25 point bonus, $75 for 150 points plus a 50 point bonus, and spend $100 you get 200 points with a 75 point bonus.
If you’re looking for old-school arcade games, you won’t find them here. Jak’s is definitely a unique product of the new century, complete with technology-driven games and attractions. If you’re looking to go, plan on spending more than $25 per person and lots of time with younger children.
