Phil Robertson, the star from the hit television show Duck Dynasty, made a remark that really offended many people. He had commented in an interview for GQ magazine about his beliefs on gay marriage.“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” Robertson had said to the magazine reporter. People were upset about the comments because they believe that gay marriage is okay, which I believe that also, but should one man lose his job, when there’s thousands of people a day that bully gays, and get away with it?“I tell people, “You are a sinner, we all are.” He had said when defending himself. Its true everyone does sin, so how does his comment change anything, are you afraid to hear the truth from a man on a t.v show? He just stated something that the bible has been saying for millions of years. Most of us know that mostly everything in the bible isn’t exactly true, but others think that its their number one code of law, and everything in it is sent straight from God. Many bible bashers have made comments before, whether it be on t.v or to other people. That person may not have been famous, but they still stated their comment and wasn’t thrown into jail nor reprimanded.
Everyone has their own views on the bible and gay marriage. No one can fully agree on anything, it’s just normal for people to have different views. His comments caused an uproar on the fans of the show and anyone that had heard about it. Honestly, my views on gay marriage is; if you’re happy good for you, its not my place to say whether you should get married or not. “It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus,” Robertson goes on to explain (in incredibly intelligent terms, of course), ‘that’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.” Each to their own as I would say, if a women wants to lay with another woman, then that’s her choice, not the bible, not any man that’s famous for being a redneck. People shouldn’t have been that surprised though, about a Southern hick stating his own beliefs. Throughout the entire television series he constantly states something from the bible or says something to do with his religion.
Everyone in the uproar was yelling and screaming saying that you can’t compare gay marriage to beastiality, and that he just stepped over the line. Why be in an uproar about one man’s comment? It doesn’t change your views nor anyone else. Phil Robertson’s character in the t.v show is that of a redneck that lives in the south and hunts. It isn’t a stereotype, but many people in the south just believe that women should be with a man. So many people complained that the man had been indefinitely suspended from the t.v show series, but others fought back. Many people vowed to stop walking the hit show till he was brought back, and the ratings began to drop. Why throw a man off of a show for a comment he made during an interview that had nothing to do with the t.v show?
