Gotham is about Detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and his mission to find out who killed the richest people in Gotham City, the parents of Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz). The show has a really dark tone and contains some twisted humor. If you are a fan of Batman or of tv shows about the police, give Gotham a shot. Granted it isn’t the superhero Batman, but it contains many easter eggs towards characters in the Batman mythology. Gotham is not like the movies. They might have similar tones, but it is a completely different time period. In the movies, Bruce Wayne is a grown man, while in Gotham, Bruce Wayne is a twelve year old boy whose parents were just killed in front of him. The show’s main character is Detective James Gordon and his life as a detective for the Gotham City Police Department while trying to solve the murder case of the Waynes. The main antagonist is Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith), a mob leader who intends on taking over all mobs in Gotham City. The show stars Ben McKenzie (James Gordon), Donal Logue (Harvey Bullock), Jada Pinkett Smith (Fish Mooney), Camren Bicondova (Selina Kyle) and David Mazouz (Bruce Wayne). Gotham airs Monday nights at 8/7c on FOX.
