Are television producers losing ideas, or is nostalgia becoming popular?

  Popular 90’s show “Full House” is returning for a 13-episode sequel on Netflix in 2016, as announced by John Stamos, or Uncle Jesse, on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in mid-April. The reboot, “Fuller House,” will focus on a now grown-up D.J. Tanner, a recently widowed and pregnant veterinarian. Younger sister Stephanie Tanner, childhood best friend Kimmy Gibbler, and Gibbler’s teenage daughter Ramona move in to help D.J. with her two sons, 12 year old J.D. and 7 year old Max, and her soon-to-be child.

  On Wednesday, Feb 4, Jimmy Fallon played himself in a “Saved by the Bell” sketch along with Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack), Tiffani Thiessen (Kelly), Mario Lopez (Slater), Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie), and Dennis Haskins (Mr. Beldings). The sketch featured plenty of 90’s memorabilia as well, involving the fashion of the time, brick-sized cell phones, and even throwback in-jokes. However, characters were missing, including Screech, played by Dustin Diamond, and Lisa, played by Lark Voorhies.

  “Boy Meets World” Disney channel reboot “Girl Meets World” has just aired its second season May 11. The new sequel series is about Riley, the daughter of Cory (still played by Ben Savage) and Topanga (still played by Danielle Fishel). The themes of the show are said to be quite similar to the original series. “We want to cover episode topics that kids deal with,” said Savage in an ABCNews article, “I will say that we’re covering topics about relationships and religion and family life and love and marriage and divorce and parenting so we’re really covering a wide array of issues that kids deal with.”
