DIY Slime is Fun but Toxic

Popular trend is actually very harmful!

You’ve seen it on Instagram, you’ve seen it even grace the headlines of sites such as Buzzfeed and The Huffington Post. Middle school children sell it, based on how well it is made and how much is given. DIY Slime maybe the coolest thing that kids play with now, but that slime can cause a lot of issues.

Some people actually don’t know what DIY Slime is made of and that isn’t good because if that “chemical” gets in the wrong place it can cause serious damage.

Dr. Richard Uluski, a children’s pediatrician, says a chemical like Borax detergent “should not be used as a toy.” Borax is a chemical used in cleaning supplies and pesticide. Borax is normally not something kids should be using for fun and entertainment.

Parents are giving their children this slime when they want to have fun and have nothing to do. This DIY Slime is really becoming a big problem, with younger children getting ahold of it. This DIY Slime has become popular, but it begs the question, how long until something bad happens with this chemical?
