A benefit to fund some of the medical expenses of Katie Crandol, a 16-year old Andrean student and Hammond resident, will be held tomorrow, Sept. 22, at the Jean Shepherd Center from 5-9 P.M. Attendees are asked to make a $10 donation, which will go towards the medical expenses. Tickets can be purchased at the door of the center, which is located in the Hessville area of Hammond on 3031 J.F. Mahoney Drive.
Katie was diagnosed last spring with advanced Stage IV brain cancer. She plays varsity softball for Andrean and on a local traveling team. Katie has several ties to Bishop Noll students, including relatives that attend the school.
Several BNI athletic teams and clubs, including the football team, have taken up donations, and many students plan to attend the benefit to show their support for their fellow Catholic school and their friend.
