Bishop Noll, Junior, Julian Leal AKA “DJ Drip”, is the highly recommended DJ for all parties and special events. Leal has DJ’d for several Noll events such as: boys and girls track meets, the school pep rally, boys home basketball games, and he has also made music for the cheerleading team’s pep rally performances, all for no charge. Leal is also interested and has been highly recommended to DJ for the turnabout dance, prom, and the senior banquet.

One could say that Leal is the epitome of someone chasing their dreams, making big moves, and succeeding at doing so. Leal was booked to DJ at the Festival of the Lakes this past summer and he will also be opening up for Twista this month with another well known DJ, DJ KCeasar.

DJing is nothing new for Leal, as he has been interested in DJing since the sixth grade. Leal tells us that his interest for DJing stems from his enjoyment in raves and concerts. “Seeing people enjoy themselves with music is definitely what sparked my interest in becoming a DJ,” says Leal. Leal says he gets his inspiration from other DJs such as  DJ Pharris, DJ Nephets, and DJ Lil Jon.

Although Leal was interested in DJing, he wasn’t fully drawn to it until a few years later. “I started to DJ in sixth grade but I didn’t take it very seriously. I DJ’d my first middle school dance with Alfonso Soto, senior at Bishop Noll, and blew out speakers that weren’t even mine”, says Leal. Fortunate for us, his unserious mindset from sixth grade to junior year has completely done a 360, as Leal is very serious about what he does now. He admits that for a while he was no longer interested in Djing until his freshman year of high school when he started to pick it back up. Leal says that he initially did not plan on making DJing a long term career goal for himself but the way that his skills are progressing and getting more recognition, it is now something that he is taking into consideration.“It takes a lot of time, practice, and dedication to get to a certain skill level. I’m not a conceited person at all but I refuse to not be the best, and if I don’t think I’m the best at what I’m doing then what is my purpose of doing it?”, says Leal.

As Leal has gotten more recognition for his work, he has become the most requested DJ by the students for all Noll events. Setting a goal and consistently working to achieve those goals while becoming the best at what you do is what Leal is doing and is also something that every student at Noll can strive to do as well. High school is all about finding your passions and figuring out what you love to do and doing it, Julian Leal is the perfect example of this.
