The boys’ tennis team ended their season last week and were ranked tenth in the region. After a great season, the boys finished with an 11-2 record. Team captain Peter Larson, senior, also had a particularly good season as well.
“My biggest achievement was going 9-4 which was a large improvement over last year,” Larson said.
The team’s most challenging match was against Highland on September 22.
“We had the opportunity to win, but we couldn’t pull through,” said Larson of the 2-3 loss. “It would have been a satisfying victory over a larger school.”
The team hopes to progress deep into post season, but according to Larson it will be tough because they face Munster in the first round of sectionals, and the Mustangs haven’t lost a sectional match in 30 years. However, even if the team loses and Larson wins during the sectional match, he has the chance to move on individually in the singles division.
“I hope that our team does well, but if we don’t win, I hope for the chance to move on individually,” Larson said.
