Chicago has always been a famous spot for Hollywood to film several movies and television shows. Some notable films that have been shot in Chicago include Man of Steel, Spiderman 2, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Child’s Play and the Home Alone franchise, while Transformers Age of Extinction is currently being filmed in Chicago. Some television shows that have been filmed in Chicago are Chicago PD, Crisis, and ER. Some television shows that are currently being filmed in Chicago to keep an eye out for are the show Chicago Fire which is entirely filmed here in Chicago, as well as the Netflix original series Orange Is the New Black.

People may not know that Chicago was once the film capital of the United States but due to the weather and general attitude of people, the film industry essentially migrated to Hollywood and left Chicago behind.  If these upcoming films and television shows that are being filmed in Chicago, are well received by American audiences it could be entirely possible that more film and television shows will return to being shot in Chicago.
