The highly anticipated premiere of the fourth season of the television series, American Horror Story: Freak Show, is finally underway.
American Horror Story is an anthology series, or, a series that tells a different story with a different set of characters each season. The series’ first season, Murder House, took place in the year 2011 and focused on a family that moves into a new home to find that it is already occupied by its’ former deceased residents. Murder House was followed by Asylum which takes place in the year 1964 and follows the story of patients living in a mental institution. The third season, Coven, takes place in the year 2013 and follows the story of a coven of modern-day witches. This season will be set in the early 1950s and will be about one of the last remaining freak shows in America. This season is rumored by cast members to be more on the dark side and possibly the scariest out of the four. Think closer to season two’s Asylum rather than Murder House or Coven.
Last Monday, the first full-length teaser for the show was released. The teaser gives fans a look at each of the characters for the first time. Jessica Lange will be returning to the cast to play Elsa Mars, the owner of the freak show. Other returning actors include Sarah Paulson as siamese twins Bette and Dot, Kathy Bates as the bearded lady, Evan Peters and Angela Basset. Newcomer Michael Chiklis will be playing the strongman. This season will also welcome real-life world’s-smallest-woman, Jyoti Amge.
American Horror Story: Freakshow will premiere on October 8, at 10p.m. on FX.
