The Theatre Honors Society is an internationally recognized honor society. It has lots of audition opportunities, lots of connections, and a lot of scholarships. In order to become a member, a student must show significant contributions to theatre by participating in various areas of theatre. A student can’t just show up and do acting once or do crew once, it takes hours of contribution. Points are awarded based upon hours spent contributing, and you have to contribute, not just sit around for a couple hours and watch others do all the work. There are plenty of ways to contribute to the the cause such as trying one of the various crews, being a student director, and acting in shows.
The theatre Honors Society works like a point system. The amount of points you acquire determines your rank in the society. To start of as a basic member, one must accumulate 60 points. There are two more levels that are met at the 120 point and 180 point mark.
When asked about how successful he thinks the first year will be, Burgun replied, “I’m excited about inducting the charter members of the group. And then excited about seeing where everyone else is in their points.”
