Dan Masterton, the sponsor the the ministry team, will head out to St. Columbanus Food Bank in Chicago,IL and the St. Blaise Supper in Summit, IL with the ministry team next Tuesday, February 25.
At the food bank, the ministry team will get to work by unloading and arranging meals that the food bank received, and pass out the meals and groceries for the less fortunate. And for the St. Blaise Supper the team will be acting as the waiters while the local deacons prepare the meals.
In addition to volunteering at the food bank and the supper, they will also visit Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation, a center in the south side of Chicago. The center combats violence and gang tensions in order to unite people with understanding and community.
Some of the trips that the ministry team went to this past year include the Respect Life Prayer Service, Catholic Charities in Gary to deliver Bishop Noll’s Christmas gifts, and The Margins service-immersion trip to Chicago. The margins trip is available to anyone who would like to tag along and the team welcomes more new members.
“I hope more and more BNI students will come on the trip and open their eyes to the way we marginalize (exclude) certain people in society,” says Masterton
