Larry Ruiz, business teacher, plans to start a Business Academy at BNI in room B104 during the upcoming school year in order to provide students with skills needed for future employment.
“Through the BNI Business Academy, students will develop business skills and knowledge needed in today’s workplace,” Ruiz says.
Students will be nominated by Mr. Ruiz or Mr. Ramker and be required to take all business classes at BNI, compete in Business Professionals of America, and attend professional development during SRT.
Mr. Ruiz started a similar business academy at his previous school which was Whiteland Community High School.
“The academy allows an avenue for all students who are undecided or interested in business to get necessary skills that will assist with their future employment” said Ruiz. In creating the business academy Ruiz says, “I expect great things from the BNI Business Academy. I expect to compete at the state level in Business Professionals of America, and also expect to have almost 100 students within the next 4 years.”
No other schools have such an academy to offer, but several local schools still compete in Business Professionals of America. Ruiz hopes to kick off the program this fall.
