The English team placed 4th in the Indiana Academic Super Bowl on May 9 at the Loeb Playhouse at Purdue University for the first time since Noll has participated in the competition. This year’s theme was “Grandeur That Was Rome”.
Led by senior captain Alyssa Anglin, sophomores Danny Cuevas, Claire Kalinowski, Mary Lowry and freshman Caitlyn Grcich, the team read Virgil’s Aeneid and Ovid’s Metamorphoses.
“The hardest part about the competition was that on the literary part could have multiple answers,” said Mrs. Carolyn Mcguire, English teacher and team coach.
The students prepared for the Super Bowl by reviewing practice questions, having educational discussions, and reading the given materials. They began their preparations for the Bowl in February.
Ninety-one schools and 641 students participated in the competition.
