Math course order rearranged

The math department has changed the order of math classes for high school students. Students will now take Geometry before Algebra 2.

Taking Geometry before Algebra 2 is more of a traditional way that most high schools follow, according to Mr. Mark Miller, math teacher.

“The biggest advantage now is that students will take Geometry earlier than they previously did,” said Mr. Miller, “This will be helpful for the PSATs, SATs, and ACTs since the tests contain a lot of Geometry questions and should help our standardized math scores increase.”

This year, Mr. Miller, Mr. Diehl, and Mr. Belluomini teach the Geometry courses whereas Mrs. Zwierz teaches the only section of Algebra 2.

“Having Geometry first will sharpen the student’s logic and reasoning skills for Algebra 2,” said Mr. Miller.
