The speech team will host a tournament at Bishop Noll on Feb. 2 to prepare for state qualifiers.

This tournament will be the speech team’s second home tournament and one of the few tournaments before state and national qualifiers.

Jackie Vasquez, a sophomore on the team, says the tournament consists of four rounds for each event and takes around 7-8 hours from check-in to the end of awards. Her goals for this tournament is to do her best to see where she would stand at sectionals. Her more aspirational goals include qualifying for state and doing well at the national qualifiers

“I think my chances for state are good, I haven’t really seen any competition that I’m too worried about, but I could be proven wrong when we get to sectionals,” Vasquez said.
