Avocado is one of the healthiest fruits a person can eat. Many people even refer to it as a superfood due to their healthful benefits. Tinley Park opens the first Avocado Theory in the country. Avocado Theory is a restaurant that creates a variety of dishes based around its key ingredient: avocado.

The avocado fruit has a history of popularity and healthiness plenty of people are crazy for. Its healthful qualities are what make it so popular. Avocados can be healthful to your eyes, blood pressure, cholesterol, even treat arthritis, and can do much more.“I really love avocados,” college student Alondra Diaz said. “They’re really good [taste-wise] and it’s even better to know that they’re healthy. I know that they’re really good for the heart, too.”

Avocado Theory’s stated mission is: “To explore newer, healthier ways to enjoy Avocado and live a happier life.” The creator behind the Avocado Theory is a man named Krunal Patel. At age 21, when Patel came to the United States from India, he didn’t know what an avocado was. He saw a huge line of people crowding a grocery store in line for guacamole on the day of Super Bowl Sunday. He figured there were many different ways you could utilize an avocado after doing some research.

He started selling guacamole with his wife in 2019 at the Farmers Market in Tinley Park. After experiencing the wealthy and beneficial outcome, he would open the world’s first avocado restaurant starring the main fruit.

Avocado Theory’s menu describes a variety of dishes, all somehow incorporating avocado somewhere in the dish. Some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes are their avocado cheesecake, avocado fries, guacamole and chips, avocado mac and cheese, avocado rice bowl, and many, many more. Their “Avocado Lover Toast” is also a popular request. “I think the first thing I’m getting at the restaurant is their avocado toast.”

“My friend and I got the avocado rice bowl that was actually super good. Prices are a little high, but that’s to be expected for a niche health restaurant. Just be prepared to spend 20 bucks on your lunch,” common reviewer Blake Willis said.

Now, Avocado Theory is still up and running in Tinley Park, Illinois, housing varieties of dishes with an unlimited number of ways to enjoy avocado. “I think creating a restaurant entirely run by avocado power is original and great,” Alondra said. “I actually plan on going to the restaurant soon and bringing my sister, too.”
