All American Season 5 Falls Short of Expectations

All American Season 5

Grace Buksa, Staff Reporter

There are two kinds of people on Monday nights- the ones that go to bed early or the ones that anxiously wait til 8:00 ETe to watch “All American.” The 2018 hit series that aired on the CSW network has been a mixed viewed show but it has helped the CSW program continue. After a successful fourth season, the show announced a renewal for season 5 after the season 4 finale. Fans were very happy about this renewal and were glad to hear that at least 4 of the show’s main characters were coming back. In order to understand what’s going on in this season, you’ll first need to catch up on seasons 1,2,3 and 4.

Season 5 focuses on main character Tamia “Coop” Cooper (Bree-Z Murray). You can expect to see her deal with many different situationships and new friendships throughout the duration of the season. Along with focusing on Tamia’s character, the show also stirs up a lot of drama between Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) and Olivia Baker (Samantha Logan). You can also expect to see many bombshells dropped in regards to their relationship in episodes 3-5.

Season 5’s first episode aired on October 13, 2022. The first and second episode is set during the holiday break. Spencer attempts to get closer to Olivia by hosting a party. Jordan overhears of Spencer’s plan and isn’t sure how to feel about it. The next few episodes focus on Grace and Carter’s wedding night, preparations for national signing day and Olivia trying to balance her feelings, work and family life. The season finale ends off with a fallout after shocking news was spread around.

This season overall was drama packed but it wasn’t as good as I was hoping it’d be. I think that the plot was confusing at points and they focused on too many people all at once. The season finale also ended off with a major cliff hanger which confused me and lots of other fans. In order for the ending to make sense, they’ll need to have a season 6. However, at this time there has been no news of another renewal for All American. So, if I were you I wouldn’t waste your time watching this season unless you have nothing else to do with your life.
