“It was a great feeling ending my fourth year of swimming with a win and continuing the the streak to make it a five-peat,” said senior Aaron Kruse on his team capturing their fifth consecutive conference championship.
The month of January 2014 will forever be placed in Bishop Noll swimming history. On Jan. 18, at Wheeler High School. the boys and the girls both captured the GSSC conference title. The most important part of this is that the boys captured their fifth consecutive title, and the girls captured their illustrious first title. This was not the easiest of feats but our Warriors managed to get the job done.
At conference, it was proven that placing is just as important as finishing first. With the Warriors’ depth, they managed to rack up the points by placing multiple swimmers in various events. What is remarkable is that out of the 23 events, Bishop Noll managed to win three. The boys put together 371 points while the girls finished with 339. What’s crazy is that both teams finished ahead of North Newton and Wheeler, North Newton being 2nd and Wheeler 3rd. The Warriors finished with a statement by the boys and girls winning the 400 freestyle relay.
“It was great, we made history,” said senior Caitlynn Edinger, who was a member of the 400 relay team. “It was a great way to go out my senior year.”
