Despite suffering their first losses of the season to the Lake Central Indians (2-12), Michigan City (0-2) and Crown Point (3-4), the Warrior baseball team regrouped with two victories against Chesterton (11-0) and North Newton (12-10).
“Lake Central is always a tough one since it’s a quality team and the first game of the year,” said first year coach Andrew Ramker.
The Warriors are preparing to hit the diamond hard for the remainder of the season. The team has a lot of talent returning to the team, and this should give them a boost.
“I expect every person on our team to have a big impact. Every player we put on the field will give us the best chance to succeed. Jaylen Yarbrough, Eloy Melero, Larry Crisler–they are all leaders but in different ways,” Ramker said.
Losing in the regional final last year (9-12), the Warriors are going to be hungry for another run.
“We are using last year’s loss as motivation, I expect the same type of run from the team this year, but we will obviously try to go father,” said junior Anthony Cobb.
