In the 2013 softball season, the Lady Warriors were capable of having a memorable season that would end tragically in the sectional finals. The Lady Warriors’ regular season would end with a banging final record of 19-6, and be known as the GSSC runner ups. In the state tournament, the Lady Warriors went up against the Whiting Oilers in a crosstown rivalry for the sectional plaque. The Lady Warriors not only had the crowd on their side with Bishop Noll hosting sectionals, but also an extra edge over the Oilers as they beat them both times in the regular season with final scores of 7-3 and 4-0. This would not be the case this time as the Lady Oilers would take the sectional plaque and defeat the Warriors in a final score of 3-2. This game is what has helped the Lady Warriors succeed so much in their 2014 season, as it is coming to a close and as they prepare for the state tournament.
As of now the Lady Warriors have had another terrific season with a record of 19-4, being second in the GSSC, and being ranked No.5 in the region for the whole season. With a very experienced team being led by five seniors, a father daughter connection between Senior Elena Sobilo and new head coach, Bishop Noll Alum, Rich Sobilo, and a very talented freshman class being led by Brittany Anderson, the Lady Warriors look to make a deep postseason run, and possibly bring home a state plaque. They believe they have all the pieces to the puzzle, and can make a big bang in this state tournament. The first task at hand will be just as last year, get out of sectionals by defeating the Lady Oilers from Whiting. The Lady Warriors are very excited and can’t wait for it to start. The seniors on the team have played with each other since freshman year and are ready to make one last hoorah in this 2014 state tournament.
