Bishop Noll alum, star basketball player, and the eldest of the three Rosarios to go through the Institute, Jose Rosario (class of 2012), has taken a calling to go into the priesthood. This is seen as a shocker to many people through the Bishop Noll community, because of the past that Jose left at Bishop Noll. Jose was seen by many of the faculty, staff, and student body as one of the biggest jocks in the ssenior class. He was seen as a ladies man. Every girls would always want to to be seen at a school dance with him, or even just someone he would walk to class. One of the most shocking points about Jose, is that through his time at Bishop Noll, he was wasn’t considered to be a strong practicing Catholic.
Jose owes six years of his education to Bishop Noll, first entering as a 7th grader in the now defunct prep academy. Always strong and big for his age, Jose was looked at by many as a jock. People thought he was a stuck up kid that acted like he knew everything. One teacher that noticed this the most out of any other teacher would be former Campus Ministry leader, prep academy, and Sophomore Theology teacher Michael Haddad. “During the time of the BNPA Jose stood out with a few others in the class of 2007. I say this because the questions he had about the faith were complex. This was interesting because you can see that he understood the material but, a Theology of “faith seeking Understanding” was under way in the area of mind, body, and soul.”, stated previous Bishop Noll former Campus Ministry leader, prep academy, and Sophomore Theology teacher Michael Haddad. As the years would go on, Mr. Haddad would notice a huge change in Jose’s attitude. The so called stuck up kid and jock of the class, turned into the friendly, care giving, and helping person by of his senior class. Jose is currently working and talking with many priests through the region and they are helping prepare him for his future as a priest.
Michael Haddadin hadn’t seen Jose for many years after they parted from Bishop Noll in 2012. When Mr. Haddad got the chance to meet Jose at mass one day, he couldn’t believe the type of man he had become through the years. “I haven’t seen Jose in several years until he attended Mass at my parish. He like always seemed like a strong independent person, however extremely humble,” stated Mr. Haddad. Jose is now seen in Michael’s eyes as a servant of God, and he believes that Jose turned himself into a fine man. “I don’t think he actually changed. I think as he grew in years he wanted to make sure he didn’t grow apart from God. So, in His maturity, he grew closer to God.”
Jose is ready for the challenge ahead of him, and believes that this opportunity will be a lifetime changing experience for him. “I am ready to change the lives of many people, and am looking forward to beginning a new chapter in my life through the priesthood,” Jose said. He also stated that he is trying to give back to his community the best way that he possibly can. “I feel that if I was to become a priest, I will be helping and changing the lives of many people, which is exactly what I want to do with my life,” he said. This comes to prove that Bishop Noll Institute truly prepares students in all three categories Mind, Body, and Soul for their future after they graduate from the Institute.
