Bishop Noll’s swim began Monday October 27, but interested students are still invited to join the team. Practices are everyday after school from 5:30pm-7:30 at Calumet High School. The practices will increase to 8 though as it gets closer to conference and start to work harder. There will be morning practices, but not everyday mostly on late starts, when they don’t have the ability to practice after school due to meets at Calumet, or when the coach feels like they need an extra practice before a meet.
“I think the goals for this years team is to give each practice your all, work hard to get as far as we can at sectionals, and possibly make it to regionals, which would be an amazing accomplishment for the team,” junior Lindsey Ksiazek said.
Bishop Noll’s biggest conference rival this year is Wheeler. The team swims against them each year for the conference title. Last year, both the boys and girls team brought home a 1st place conference championship, and now they’re looking to repeat that victory.
Although there are no seniors on the team this year, the juniors look promising and will have to step up their game to fill in the places that the seniors have left empty.
“Our uniors would be the strongest leaders on the because they have more experience and will be the oldest members on the team especially those who have been in swim since freshman year,” Ksiazek said.
There are some rumors that there are some promising freshmen that may be able to help make the team a little bit stronger. With the help of the new freshmen and the juniors stepping up into the right places, both the boys and girls team think that a sectional championship is in the works for this season.
”I think this year we will do really well if we put in the hard work and we get a lot of new people to join, especially considering that we won’t have any seniors on this years team,” Ksiazek said.
