The Bishop Noll’s Boys Basketball team welcomes another season of intensity and excitement. With a set of new and returning players, the basketball team has more expectations for the new season.
“I expect for our team to win, build chemistry as a team, and have fun,” says junior varsity player, Roman Penn.
With the loss of some players from the previous basketball season, this year’s team has a new aspect.
“I believe the team now has some pluses and negatives from the team last year, but both teams are all around pretty good,” says junior varsity player, Kodi Greenwell. “I think we have more chemistry and we communicate with each other on and off the court. Also we know what it takes to get where we want, so we’re going to work harder in practice. What makes it better is that we have the same accolades,” says junior varsity player, Penn.
Having the toughest schedule than past years doesn’t intimidate the warriors.
“I like this year’s tougher schedule because it gives us a chance to play better competition and improve on a lot of things. I’m really confident about it,” says Greenwell. Ryan Adams is also confident about this season’s line up. “Its tougher teams but these teams want to play us, and I feel like respect is being given to us by these tougher teams that are interested in playing us,” said Adams.
With new players added to varsity, it will benefit the team for upcoming games.
“I will add a sense of determination to the team and bring my competitiveness,” say sophomore varsity player, Myles Whitfield. Returning senior, Nick Thrasher adds, “I will bring a positive attitude, and help people grow together.” Thrasher says his comeback this season is to get in shape and also because he really enjoys playing the sport.
Members all have their own personal set goals for the season, but the boys basketball team ultimately share one specific goal. “Our goal for this season is simply to win as many games as we can, and take it as far as we can when it’s tournament time,” says Greenwell. Team members want to make a run in the postseason and make it past regionals.
The teams chemistry all seem to be on the same page. Communication and positivity are strong with our boys this year. Penn, Adams, and others agree that positive attitude is important. The mindset and attitude the team has affects the play and outcome of their games. “It will only determine the way we play because if we doubt ourselves on every possession then we won’t do good, but if we go hard on every possession then we will have a positive outcome,” said Whitfield.
