Dyer—Bishop Noll girl’s bowling team advanced to regionals this past Sunday, Jan. 12. During sectionals, two seniors won the spot of 4th and 5th place in the single tournament.

Senior, Alexis Gonzalez, has advanced to regionals for the third time in her high school career. Gonzalez scored a 234 in her first game, and hopes to beat her initial score at regionals. But Gonzalez is no stranger to bowling; her father has shaped her skills at a young age.

“My dad bowls as well and coaches bowling at Mount Carmel, and he has helped me grow as a bowler and become so much better,” she said.

Senior, Jessica Suarez, qualified for regionals for the first time. Suarez is excited and plans to go in with a sharp mentality.

“My goal going into regionals is to stay focused on my game and perform well with high scores,” she said. Suarez scored a 187 in one of three games and placed fourth.

On Saturday, Jan. 18, the girl’s will bowl at Stardust in Merrillville at 9 a.m. to compete at regionals. Both wish to go in with a high performance and score above their initial scores from sectionals.
