The track and field team had their first indoor meet of the season this past Friday, Mar 6, at Bishop Noll. The girls started off the season with a win and the boys placed second against E.C Central and Morton high school.

Junior Mary Buksa says she has been putting in lots of hard work at practice to prepare herself for the first meet. With many goals for her upcoming season, Buksa’s primary goal is to win the Hammond City meet because of the level of competitiveness. Eric Klocek, track and field coach, says he is trying to push his athletes to achieve their goals this season.

“I’d like to develop the athletes on the team both physically and mentally, show them that through hard work, dedication, and a group of athletes brought together with the same goal, anything is possible” Coach Kloceck said.

“When you are down in a race, work hard to pass the person in front of you, if you need the extra foot in shot put, give the next throw your all, in the end, NEVER LET ANYTHING get in your way of achieving your goals.” Klocek said.

Next track meet will be held on Saturday, Mar 14, at 9:30 a.m at Portage High School.
