Staff Report

Bishop Noll will host a viewing party in the fieldhouse for tonight’s football game against Calumet Christian. All Bishop Noll students will be able to view a live-stream of the game while practicing safe social distancing.

The IHSAA COVID-19 resource guidelines state that any set of bleachers should be filled to only 50% capacity with a maximum of 250 people. Because of the limited capacity of Bishop Noll’s facilities, only two relatives per football player, cheerleader or band member will be allowed to view the game in the football bleachers. There are 72 double seats for parents and 44 single seats reserved for seniors on the Bishop Noll side.

The viewing party will begin in the gym at 6:45 p.m with a 7 p.m. kickoff. The event will cost $4 and feature a pizza dinner, music, cheers and entertainment by the Bishop Noll band.

“We want to provide a fun way to watch the game while maintaining CDC guidelines,” says Bishop Noll principal Lorenza Pastrick. “This is a test run, If we have a good turnout, we will continue the viewing party for the following games.”

After the game, the students will exit in a single file line while still following DC guidelines.

Tonight’s game kicks off the Warriors’ football season, which has been cut down to seven games due to COVID-19. Tickets for the live-stream can be purchased during Friday’s lunch in the cafeteria. The live-stream can be viewed by the public on the Bishop Noll Athletic Department Facebook page.
