Senior football player Amaurii Fallen committed to play college football at the University of Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington. 

Fallen, a captain for the Warriors football team, was offered scholarships from schools such as St. Francis in Joliet and Trine University, but ultimately chose to attend Illinois Wesleyan this past Saturday, Jan. 16. 

“[Illinois] Wesleyan is a great school academically and one of the best schools in the nation for getting a job after college,” said Fallen, “the school was a great overall fit.”

Amaurii played both offense and defense for the Warriors, but was recruited to play defense at Wesleyan. Fallen said that he never played on the defensive side of the ball until attending Bishop Noll, but with proper coaching and fundamentals as well as hard work and dedication, he was able to earn All-Conference honors and team MVP his Junior season for playing cornerback, a defensive position.

“[Amaurii]was always willing to help out,” said head coach Wayne Racine. “That’s true leadership. He was willing to be a soldier for us. That is the mark of a great leader.” 

Racine said that Amaurii was an outstanding teammate as well; and despite being a quiet leader, he was vocal through his actions in the classroom and at practice. 

Amaurii transferred over from St. Francis de Sales going into his sophomore year. He said that Bishop Noll was more difficult both academically and athletically, since St. Francis did not have a football team. “I chose bishop Noll because it was the best option for a private school in my new area after I moved to Indiana,” said Fallen.

“A lot of people on the opposing team’s sideline during the season used to say I was weak; they were confident they could beat me. Now I’ll be attending a collegiate powerhouse. Wonder what they think now.”
