Bishop Noll’s track and field team is coming back this year bigger with about 60 athletes in the program, it is one of the biggest turnouts the team has had.

With winter conditionings starting this month, many are excited about getting back into shape for the track season.

Sophomore Isabella L. Garcia’s favorite thing about winter conditioning is, “Getting the right preparation for the season so I will perform my best during the season.”

With the extra conditionings during the winter season, the sophomore distance runners personal goals have continued to grow as well.

“My personal goals for this year is to place in every event that I do and PR each time I do my events,” she said.

With the track and field team growing in numbers, many returning athletes are very excited for the upcoming season.

“I’m most excited for finding my event for the team,” said senior Antoine Lewis. “I’m also excited about getting recruited to by colleges to run track.”

Lewis, a distance runner, qualified for cross country semi-state this past fall and hopes to continue his legacy on this year’s track team.

“My personal goal is to figure out the best event for me to participate in and make it past sectionals at the least,” Lewis said. “Our 4×8 relay should be great with the returning runners we have plus the new runners coming in. The same goes for the 4×4 team.”

Excitement doesn’t begin to start on how some of the athletes are feeling about this season kicking into gear a little bit earlier this year.

“[I’m] most excited to have track meets with friends and have all those fun moments one last time.” said Alvarez.

Alvarez runs the 800m, and she also throws shot put and discus.
