Bishop Noll will value the least valuable coinage possible. That’s right, the penny will no longer be ignored. Penny Wars is a friendly competition between the classes during Spirit Week that raises money to a worthy charity.
Student Council members chose three separate charities, and then let the student body vote on the final chosen charity. The Humane Society is the overall charity that was chosen receive the donations. Student Council members thought it was important for students to feel passionate for the charity that they are raising money for. Although, there is no specific goal in mind Student council hopes that the students get involved.
Each class will have their own penny jar located in the cafeteria. The value of pennies collected by a class count positively to that class’ point total, while silver coins and dollars count negatively toward that class’ point total. Therefore, you want to add pennies to your class jar and add silver coins and dollars to other class jars. The class with the highest point total (not money total) will win. The winner will be announced at Friday’s pep rally.
