Bishop Noll’s boys soccer team took a hard 4-0 loss to their rivals, the Andrean 59ers, on Saturday afternoon for the Covenant Christian Sectional Championship.
“We all became nervous which resulted in crucial mistakes” sophomore Gabriel Anguiano said. “Everything that was worked on in practice just didn’t fall into place. We had all the pieces to the puzzle, but just couldn’t figure out where to put them when we needed it the most.”
The Warriors sadly said goodbye to the six seniors on the team but had confidence that the team would return and show them they can get that sectional championship next year.
“That loss will make us strive even harder for the next upcoming season. Hard works pays off and we will prove that.” said Anguiano.
“Our chemistry definitely will be better since the team as a whole has become a lot closer. With good chemistry, we will have a better chance of going farther into the playoffs for sure.”
Noll has a young squad coming back next year, but has very high expectations for all the returning players. Losing only six seniors could be an advantage for the Warriors, compared to other teams such as Andrean, who will be losing 18 of their seniors.
“I just expect a lot of upperclassmen to step up in their leadership role and take demand on the field.” said Anguiano “Our goalkeeper, Jonathan Lozano, who is returning for his senior year, likes to take charge from the back and that should help us out a lot.”
