Continuing on with a decade-old tradition to celebrate Pi Day, the Math Club sold pies during lunch hours from February 28th to March 7th. All proceeds went to the Humane Society in the Calumet area. They raised a total of $500.
The price increased this year to $4.00. The flavors included apple, cherry, lemon meringue, cookies and cream, blueberry, French silk, strawberry, and peanut butter cup.
“The number π has an abbreviation of 3.14, which is why we celebrate Pi Day on March 14th. This is a great way to combine our love of math and helping others, while eating some delicious pie in the process. As a school, we come together to raise money towards worthy causes in the area,” said Mr. Lopez, math teacher, and coordinator of the Pi Day fundraiser.
