As more and more seniors figure out what their after high school plans are, whether it is the military or college, nearly every single senior has hit the phenomena known as “senioritis”. Senioritis is the lack of motivation one feels during senior year due to graduation approaching. However, Bishop Noll’s solution to this problem was solved over a year ago. If seniors earn an ‘A’ both quarters of second semester senior year, they do not have to take a daunting final for that class.
“It is an incentive for seniors to work harder both third and fourth quarter. It is good reward for working hard and it won’t make them any less prepared for college by not taking this final,” said Mr. Barrett Laspesa, senior theology teacher.
However, other teachers see the benefit of the exam.
“You should be prepared for comprehensive like tests in college and I don’t think many students are ready for that,” said Mr. John Trafny, social studies teacher.
Although this option is a great motivator for a senior suffering from senioritis, not every teacher will offer this. Each teacher has their own policy when it comes to their class, making their final mandatory regardless of grade. Seniors will not be able to leave the school if they do not have to take a final. They will be supervised in the library or another location.
