Band director Rocco Carioto and senior Epiphany Jonican have put together a majorette team and flag corp this school year to perform with the marching band for parades and at home football games.
The team needs at most about eight to ten people to join, says Carioto.
The majorettes are not limited to the female population of the school, any person is eligible to join.
Majorettes add an extra visual element to the band and it’s music through dancing and “bringing the story to life” by portraying what the song is about, according to Carioto.
The decision to add majorettes to the band occurred during band camp this past July. Previously, the dance team marched with the band before for parades, but their own obligations make it difficult to continue their accompaniment to the band.
To join, students must speak with Mr. Carioto. The rehearsals are during College and Career Prep in the band room.
