Kairos is an annual four-day retreat that is offered three times a year for juniors to attend once. Changes are taking place in Kairos, including rooming and location.
The juniors go on this retreat to reflect and get away from the stress of everyday life. “Kairos” is Greek meaning “God’s time”. Instead of having roommates like last year, the juniors will have their own private rooms. The location has been changed to Lasalle Manor in Plano, Illinois from last year’s location at Lindenwood Retreat Center in Donaldson, Indiana.
“We decided to go somewhere where we had exclusive use of facility to give Kairos retreat more privacy for our community,” said Campus Minister Dan Masterton. Single bedrooms are the only option for the juniors going on Kairos this year.
“It is a welcome change because retreats largely depend on personal reflection,” Masterton said.
Father Scalf and Mr. Masterton say that they hope to see more students finding an interest in going to Kairos, and wanting to see more juniors being Kairos leaders for next year.
“I would hope that Kairos, like all BNI initiatives, would draw our school family into a deeper and more compelling relationship with Jesus and the Church. From that foundation, the structure becomes durable and anything is possible,” said priest and teacher Father Kevin Scalf.
