The Heart of a Champion is a character development program being implemented in the Freshman Seminar class by instructor Mr. Andrew Ramker.
“It is based on nine character traits, which are Commitment, Leadership, Perseverance, Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, Responsibility, Self-Control, Compassion,” Ramker said.
The program is an actual curriculum that involves workbooks, discussions, videos, and stories.
“I believe that our students have the ability and want to be amazing people but sometimes they do not know exactly what to do or how to do it,” Ramker said.
This curriculum provides students with examples of people with high morals and meanings so that it’s easier to understand and realize how to improve their character. Along with Mr. Ramker, the administration will be stepping in to help students reach goals in high school and beyond.
“This course is a pro-active approach to improving behavior and morals,” Ramker said. “We see examples everyday where people lack these traits so we are hoping to introduce them early in high school and let them grow and develop throughout their high school career and beyond,” said Mr. Ramker. The curriculum isn’t just for basic knowledge, but will hopefully benefit the freshman. “I hope my students realize that they are all capable of becoming people of outstanding character and there are opportunities everyday to improve,” said Mr. Ramker.
