Bishop Noll welcomes back the Golden Warrior Club to help the Bishop Noll’s community become more dedicated to giving. The club offers charity opportunities as well as spiritual benefits.
Bishop Noll’s Golden Warrior Club is back again and hoping to make this school more involved with its community and ultimately the world. The Golden Warrior Club, created last year by class sponsors and student council members English teacher Kevin Burgun, English teacher Carolyn McGuire, Theology teacher Rebecca Shaman, Theology Lydia Skurka, and Spanish teacher Reina Ramirez, hopes to get the Bishop Noll community interested in the way of giving.
In order to become a Golden Warrior, students must go above and beyond the charity that are already expected of them. Throughout the year, students are given three opportunities to become a Golden Warrior. The first opportunity to join the club was donating at least 30 items in the past food drive; the second is donating at least 12 jars in the upcoming Peanut Butter drive, and the third way of donating is to give at least 40$ to the Noll House resulting in two bricks.
“We were looking for a way to encourage students to take ownership of these drives,” said Lydia Skurka, theology teacher and one of the founders of the club.
The Golden Warrior club offers both spiritual and non spiritual benefits. If a student becomes a Golden Warrior they receive recognition for their charity as well as a gold warrior pin to wear at graduation. The spiritual benefit that comes along with being a golden warrior is being able to answer the calling of christ to help those in need.
“Being a Golden Warrior means acting as a true disciple of Christ,” says Skurka.
