2017 Haunted Houses in NWI

As Halloween approaches many haunted houses have begun to open. Reaper’s Realm (Hammond,IN) is a popular one around in the area. The haunted house setting is in a 1920s stone mansion with three floors of scary monsters and creatures. Creeping around every corner is a spirit or demon sure to scare. There are many different packages and combos to buy. The biggest combo is the $40 one, it includes all attractions plus unlimited carnival rides.

Haunted Hills Hospital (Lake Station, IN) is another good one known in the area.  Haunted Hills Hospital is where the psychotic prisoners who were too crazy and dangerous for a mental facility were sent to die. Come see the deadliest patients in this haunted house and hope to make it out alive. There are three different packages for sale. The general admission, $15. The “Emergency” fast pass, $25 and you get to skip the line. The “Insanity” VIP pass, which is $30 and you get to skip the line,you get a free t-shirt, and merchandise.

Amhurst Asylum (Valpo, IN) was shut down over four decades ago. Guests of this haunted house can peek into what it was like when Dr. Amhurst’s worked there. Admission is $25 (NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 10 WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY AND PERSONS 14 AND UNDER MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A LEGAL GUARDIAN). Hours are 7-10 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays; 7-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Kids day noon-3 p.m. Oct. 25.

Deep River Aerial Adventure Park (Merrillville, IN) will be transformed into a Halloween experience unlike any other in the Chicago/Northwest Indiana region. Scary lights, scary sounds and creepy decor will add some family-friendly Halloween feeling to the already thrilling adventure park experience. The Haunted Treetop Trails will have participants crossing rope bridges, zip lines and log beams while surrounded by ghosts, spiders and other spooky effects.  On Saturday evenings, there will be Zombie Zip Lines.  Participants can zoom over the heads of zombies in the midst of an scary forest. Chilling lighting effects and creepy noises make the nighttime experience extra creepy. Haunted Treetop Trails take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in October. Zombie Zip Lines which also includes the Haunted Treetop Trails is every Saturday night in October from 5 to 10 p.m. (last group goes up at 8 p.m.)  These offerings are included in the regular park admission prices. The two-hour adventure is $39 for adults and $29 for children 8-12.  The three-hour adventure for adults is $49 and $39 for children 8-12. Advance reservations are recommended.
