Most of the well-known companies and places have brands that they are known for when people think of them. When people think of Pepsi, they would think of that delicious and refreshing all-American drink–the red, white and blue. With Popeye’s Chicken, people think of southern hospitality. Or even with Harley Davidson, people automatically think of the motorcycles.
Branding isn’t just used with businesses; it also extends to schools. For example, Andrean and Mount Carmel might be best known for their football teams. But if someone mentions Bishop Noll, what would be the first thing that comes to mind? To gain an edge on local Catholic college prep schools, Bishop Noll will be creating their own brand.
Micki Pavnica-Tomich, an alumni of Bishop Noll and a current member of the board, is the owner of the Mix Design Branding Company located in Schererville, IN. Mix Design is a company that helps business build up their brand, develop their brand further, and help the brand out through marketing, interior design, graphic design, and other elements that really get it into gear. Tomich wants to help Bishop Noll find its personal brand.
“I personally want to learn more about the students perception and the public’s perception of Bishop Noll because it’s changed so much in 20 years,” Tomich says. “So my goal would be to learn what everyone is proud of so we can help develop the Bishop Noll brand.”
Anyone who has attended Bishop Noll or who wants to send their children to Bishop Noll already knows that it has a heartwarming community vibe, the students are very well-mannered and they end up with a great education and future. But is that really what Bishop Noll’s brand is?
Tomich said, “The brand is really the feeling you get when you associate yourself with something. So my hope is that when someone would say, ‘Oh, I play for Bishop Noll’ would be able to have an intuitive feeling about it.”
Tomich is currently working on brand ideas for the school and wants to use a lot of feedback from the Noll community.
