Bishop Noll wide receiver, Edwond Sanders, was a new addition to the 2015-2016 football season. The junior transfer left Hales Franciscan in Chicago, Illinois to come to Noll for a very special and heartwarming reason.

Edwond was looking to transfer once Hales Franciscan ended their football program, but as a Chicago resident, he had many other high school football options from which to choose. However, he chose Noll because his late father, Derrel Sanders, was a football coach at Noll during the 2000s.

“My dad was a football coach and he played football so I wanted to play a sport that he also enjoyed and follow in his footsteps,”  Edwond says.

He says changing schools was a bit of a difficult transition for him because the football program at his old school was much different than Noll’s football program. He also had to learn new plays when he came to Noll.

The 5’8’’, 200-lb junior has been playing football since the third grade and has enjoyed it ever since. He says he hopes to make it to the NFL one day.

“I want to get stronger and faster so that no one in the world can stop me,” Edwond says.
