Trip to China offered to all students

Led by Mrs. Julie Niu, Chinese teacher, and organized by Hanban Headquarters and Valparaiso University, the Bishop Noll Chinese program is offering students a nine day trip to China beginning on April 2nd.

A minimum of ten students will be visiting cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, and experiencing many of the historical wonders China has to offer, including The Forbidden City and The Great Wall. Other high schools are also joining BNI on this trip.

In regards to Noll students, Mrs. Niu stated that she hopes that the trip will spark in them an interest in Chinese culture and offer them as full of an experience as possible. She currently needs six more students to reach the minimum. As the expenses stand now, the costs for the plane tickets are still up in the air.

Those four who have signed up share Mrs. Niu’s excitement. Senior Zoe Yoshikane said that she anticipates “the simple lifestyle changes and authentic Chinese food”, and that, despite the potential language difficulties, she feels that it will be an “unforgettable experience”.
