Three boys are jumping into the cheer season, enthusiastic to be a part of Bishop Noll’s 2017 cheerleading team. Senior Dylan Meister, junior Alexander Alvarez, and sophomore Alex Galvan are already performing with the team as  male lifters at both boys and girls basketball games.

Meister stated that he has had no prior experience other than weight lifting, but he is excited to meet new people and enjoy Noll’s basketball games a little more as a part of the squad.

“I try to add a masculine component by standing out from the female cheerleaders by participating in other cheers,” Meister said.  “My coach is Mrs. Sandoval and I do like her because she is very patient and understanding with the lifters.”

The girls are grateful for the additional strength on the team that helps them with their lifts and performance.

“They have helped our team come together as a whole. We all help each other out to make our team better,” said senior Monique Alvarado.
