The Bishop Noll band presented a Halloween Concert–the first of its kind–last Friday, Oct.22 in the cafeteria.
The band played different selections of Halloween-themed music, including music ranging from Jaws, Adams Family, Thriller, and others. The band members wore costumes and other band members decorated the cafeteria with Halloween decorations.
The concert was also used as a time for donations.
“Since we are entering the holiday season we have decided to have people bring a non-perishable food item and we will donate what we collect to a local food pantry,” said Rocco Carioto, the band and choir director.
The band is happy for the way this year has been going.
“The band has had an exciting 1st have of the year coming off a great marching football season and winning the outstanding band award for the Columbus Day parade,” Carioto said.
Freshman clarinetist, Diana Torres-Cruz, was anxious for her first high school band event.
“I am excited to have an audience watch the band perform, how the band gets to dress up for the occasion, and the music lined up for this event,” she said.
The band has been busy with many other activities too.
“Last week our mariachi band performed at Maywood Elementary for their Hispanic Heritage night,” Carioto said.“This was a great outreach to our community. November 6th we will march at the Hammond Veterans Day parade honoring our military veterans. Our jazz band performed at the gala event and our BNI Rock band is getting ready to debut very soon. Lots of exciting things are coming out of the bandroom.”
“Our music department never sleeps and it’s like a true college program that is always busy,” Carioto said.
