The BNI Hockey team is going to the Indiana 4a playoffs. Players and coaches are excited considering this is their first 4a tournament. This is where they will potentially be facing Culver Academies, Carmel High School, Hamilton Southeastern, Lake Central, and South Bend Saint Joseph. These teams have consistently hit the top 10 and farther.

When you look at this team it seems very complete and communicative. The only problem is depth. Where we only have two teams, our Varsity and JV. Bigger schools like Carmel have 2 varsity teams.

“ The first team we play. That is the only game on the schedule. In the playoffs, you cannot look ahead past the opponent you have next. That is where teams end up falling down,.” said assistant coach Kevin Smith.

“We have been in this position before and we can’t get cocky.” Said Sophomore Kyle Cipowski

This team has lived by the mentality that “To be the best you have to beat the best.”
They have carried that throughout their season beating Carmel High School and tied #2 seed Hamilton Southeastern 2-2. “ We challenged our players to ‘Leave their Legacy,’ and so far, they are leaving a great legacy,.” Smith said. This Friday February 25th the Hockey team will go down to Indianapolis for the tournament.
