Social studies teacher Mr. John Gleason and English teacher Mr. Ed Wabtroka, have created a guitar club in an effort to allow students to play music outside of school.

“We want to create a space where BNI students can play guitar with their friends and foster a love for music,” Gleason said. “Hopefully, the Guitar Club will inspire more students to pursue music, both in the music program at Bishop Noll and beyond high school.”Freshman Alexandra Magallanes is one of the student leaders who started the club. “It had been a thought in the back of my mind but [Watrobka] had ultimately been the one to start it,” she said.

Guitar club’s first meeting was on September 30 after school. “We have musicians at a range of levels, so we try to accommodate that diversity,” Gleason said. “We run lessons for our beginner players to get the basics down, while the more advanced guitarists learn songs together, jam, and help the other students. The meetings will take place every other Thursday.

“My goal in participating with the guitar club is to become a generally better guitarist and overall musician. As well as having fun with other people who want to learn how to play the guitar,” said Alexandra.
