The short 8-episode Netflix hit series, Stranger Things, swept the nation over the summer receiving a lot of attention from celebrities, known interviewers, and becoming a trending topic on Twitter. The first season of the science fiction and supernatural show takes place back in 1983 when a young boy, Will, from Indiana goes missing and it’s up to his friends, family, and a police officer to find out where he is. As Will’s friends search for him, they find a very odd girl with unordinary powers who tagged along their adventure to help find Will and unravel a few secrets. Throughout each unexpected episode, there’s always a dramatic twist that will leave the audience shocked, which keeps bringing the audience back wanting more.

Being named “the most popular digital original series in the U.S during the second week of July,” according to Tech Times, Stranger Things has been announced three times more popular than Orange is The New Black, another hit Netflix series.

Due to it’s popularity, Stranger Things has already announced a renewal and will began Season 2 in summer of 2017. Stranger Things co-directors, Matt and Ross Duffer, gave a little inside on what to expect in the upcoming season. Due to the fact that the previous cast are adolescents and will gradually change in their appearances, season 2 will also fast forward a year to make sure it still seems as realistic as possible.

Viewers can also expect new characters, such as Max’s older brother, Billy, and unexpected returning characters. Season 2 will premiere in the summer of 2017, and will have an additional episode adding up to nine new episodes.
