Telltale Games presents “The Walking Dead: A New Frontier”, nearly 2 years after “The Walking Dead: Season Two”. This time around, however, we aren’t following Clementine. We are introduced to Javier–or Javi–and his family as they try to survive the apocalypse. Clementine, a character introduced in season one of the franchise will also be featured, but will not be the main protagonist of the series.

Instead of calling it “The Walking Dead: Season Three”, Telltale Games decided to call it “The Walking Dead: A New Frontier” as a way to include everyone into their experience, not just people who have played both season one and season two of the game.

Both episodes one and two “The Tides That Bind Part One and Part Two” were released on December 20, 2016. For “The Tides That Bind Part One,” the review website Metacritic gave the Microsoft Windows version 81/100 based on 35 reviews, the PlayStation 4 version 82/100 based on 8 reviews and the Xbox One version 78/100 based on 14 reviews. For “The Tides That Bind Part Two” according review website Metacritic gave the Microsoft Windows version 80/100 based on 33 reviews, the PlayStation 4 version 81/100 based on 7 reviews and the Xbox One version 78/100 based on 13 reviews.

Episode three “Above the Law” was released on April 6, 2017. According to the website Nzgamer, it was given a 6.0 out of 10 with the critique of too much plot, and not enough character.

As someone who doesn’t play video games, but instead just watches people play, I feel that this season has lived up to the hype.  I watch about 6 people play the exact same season, and I have been doing this since season one,  and it’s interesting to see people’s reaction to the same situation. I think that Telltale knows what they’re doing and as they will continue to move on with the story.
