Was Zack Snyder’s Justice League Better Than the Normal Justice League?

Jacob Washington, Staff Reporter

Last month, Zack Snyder’s Justice League debuted on HBO Max.
The point of the new movie is to give the viewers another perspective of the 2017 edition of the movie. Zack Snyder is one of the main directors of the Justice League movies. The 2017 version of the movie is the compiled scenes from the other director, Joss Whedon. Zack Snyder’s Justice League basically fills the plot holes that the original movie left open and also gave the viewers a somewhat different viewpoint of the movie by adding the scenes that were not in the 2017 version. By doing this, the new movie more doubled the original runtime of two hours. Zack Snyder’s Justice League was divided into chapters so it made the runtime a lot more bearable, however.
I personally think that the Zack Snyder cut is a lot better than the original. This is because the 2017 version seemed like it had a lot of places that seemed undone or rushed. I’m not the only person that thinks this way. Everett Fehr, a junior at Bishop Noll thinks the same way.
“I thought Snyder’s cut was better,” he said. “The 2017 version missed out on exploring a vast world with multiple interconnected stories and allowing for future movies.”
A lot of the character arcs weren’t explained at all or rushed through in the 2017 version. The viewer wasn’t given enough information on how the heroes got together, how they found each other, why stopping the villain was so important, who the villain was, or who some of the main characters were. Zack Snyder’s version fixes those issues.
According to Everett, “Snyder’s cut gave a complete story to all of the characters while allowing future projects if they were ever to be made.” Zack Snyder’s cut gave every hero their own chance to have their story told without rushing. The movie also made sense of some of the things that happened by taking the viewer through the story without leaving anything out.
“Snyder’s version of the Justice League felt more complete,” Everett said.
Though Zack Snyder’s Justice League is four hours long, the extra two hours are extremely worth it.
“The movie itself is broken into chapters so you don’t have to watch it all in one go,” Everett said. “I do think the two extra hours were worth it.”
I personally think the 2017 version of Justice league was a decent movie but was missing a lot of important factors that would’ve made it a great movie. Zack Snyder’s Justice League is a more complete movie and it makes the movie a lot better. I really enjoyed Zack Snyder’s Justice League and highly recommend watching it.
